In Korea, as a confirmed person infected with the Omicron mutation came out, there was an emergency in quarantine.

The government and doctors’ groups have urged the government to get vaccinated, saying that the third dose is essential to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and have a safe winter.

He emphasized that if you boost your immunity with the third inoculation, it is also effective in countering Omicron.

A couple in their 40s, who were the first confirmed cases of Omicron mutation in Korea, completed the second vaccination in October.

As it was confirmed that he was infected with the Corona 19 Omicron mutation even after receiving the vaccine, voices of anxiety that the existing vaccine would be of no use to Omicron have emerged.

However, the quarantine authorities said that in this case, it is impossible to judge whether the existing vaccine is effective for omicron mutation or not.

In addition, breakthrough infections are rapidly increasing among the elderly in their 60s who received early vaccinations.

Although the vaccination completion rate has exceeded 80%, the formation of collective immunity seems far away, and when a strong mutation appears, even the ‘uselessness’ theory is raised.

Quarantine authorities and a group of experts said that the COVID-19 vaccine is clearly effective in preventing infection, severe disease, and death, and requested a third dose again.

Based on the study results, those who completed the third vaccination had a 11.3-fold reduction in the confirmation rate and a 19.5-fold decrease in the severity of symptoms compared to those who received the primary vaccination.

Advance reservations for booster vaccinations for 18-49 year-olds have also started.
