[영상] Biden: Sweden and Finland support NATO membership What about Turkey against?

(Seoul = Yonhap News) US President Joe Biden said he strongly supports Finland and Sweden, which have applied for membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

President Biden held a three-way summit with Finnish President Sauli Ninistö and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson at the White House on the morning of the 19th (local time).

In a joint speech after the meeting, President Biden called the two countries’ applications to join NATO “an important day” and “I am proud to express strong support for the application of NATO, the strongest defense ally in history.”

“Both countries are already coordinating and working with the United States and other allies and partners to support Ukraine in defending its freedom against a Russian invasion,” he added.

He also said the two countries meet all requirements for joining NATO.

Turkey is an obstacle for Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

New membership of NATO requires unopposed approval by all 30 member states.

However, Turkey opposes the two countries joining NATO, arguing that Finland and Sweden support their own separatist movement.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said “Turkey’s concerns could be addressed” but “there are currently no plans to be directly involved in the matter.” Who can convince Turkey?

Let’s see the video.
