The funeral of actress Kang Su-yeon, who passed away on the 7th, will be held at 10 am on the 11th at the funeral hall on the first basement floor of the Samsung Medical Center.

The funeral will be broadcast live through the official YouTube channel of the Korean Film Council, and will be held with a film seal.

The funeral chairperson is Kim Dong-ho, chairman of the Gangneung International Film Festival.

The deceased, who made his debut at the age of 4 in 1969, was a youth star and an original Hallyu actor, a pillar in the film industry. Having established herself as the best teen star in the 1980s drama ‘High School Student’s Diary’, she became the first Korean actor to win the Best Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival, the world’s top three film festivals, in 1987 through Im Kwon-taek’s ‘Sister’. Two years later, she also starred in the movie ‘Aze, Aze Baraze’ with director Lim, winning the Best Actress Award at the Moscow Film Festival.

After that, he made a mark in the Korean film industry by successively making successful films such as ‘Falling things have wings’ (1989), ‘The road to the racetrack’ (1991), and ‘Blue in you’ (1992). She swept the ‘Dae Bell Awards’, ‘Baeksang Arts Awards’ and ‘Blue Dragon Film Awards’, and won the Best Actress award at domestic and international film festivals only 10 times.

In 2001, she took on the role of Jeong Nan-jeong in SBS’s ‘Woman in Heaven’ and recorded a viewership rating of 35%, and in 2007 continued her vigorous activities through MBC’s ‘Moonhee’.
