At a high school in Daejeon, where there was a controversy over violations of quarantine rules and suspicions of abuse by the principal, there was a claim that there was a problem in handling school violence this time.
The school explained that it was a simple mistake, but the education office launched an investigation to see if the measures to protect the victim were appropriate.

A private high school in Daejeon.
On the 26th of last month, a first-year student grabbed a classmate by the neck and pushed him and unilaterally assaulted him.
However, it was argued that the school’s response was negligent.
The victim’s side said that the teacher had witnessed the situation, but only cautioned and sent the perpetrator back.
However, after that, as the threats to the students continued, he couldn’t stand it and went to the school office to report the incident of school violence.
The difficult situation continued during the investigation process.
It was confirmed that the school called the victim and the aggressor at the same time the next day and investigated together despite the parents’ request to open the School Violence Committee.
At that time, the teacher in charge of school violence asked the victim again if he should open a school violence in front of the student, and it was found that he even had them write a fact check in the same space.
[피해 학생 보호자 : 가해 학생이 보는 앞에서 종용하듯 말을 하면은 피해 학생인 저희 자녀 같은 경우에는 열면 안 되는 건가? 내가 나쁜 애가 되는 건가? 이렇게 위축될 수밖에 없잖아요.]
The guidelines of the Ministry of Education to separate the students involved in the investigation of school violence and not to rush to reconciliation were not followed at all.
Moreover, unlike the assailant student who wrote the statement on the table, the victim student put the document on a chair and squatted to write it, expressing the situation with a picture.
The victim’s guardian also said that this is not the first time this has happened.
Last August, the victim reported that the student had been extorted of money from another school, but the school claimed that the school did not properly follow the bullying procedure.
[피해 학생 보호자 : 저희는 사과도 못 받고 그 아이는 징계도 못 받고 이렇게 저희는 다 끝나는 거냐? 했더니 기억 나는 단어가 참 아이러니하게도 그게 그렇게 돼요. 단순히 돈을 늦게 돌려받은 것일 뿐이기 때문에 학폭위 열 수 없습니다.]
The school acknowledged that the response process was insufficient, but explained that it was the teachers’ mistake and there was no intentionality.
[학교 관계자 : 업무를 처리하는 과정에서 미진한 점이 있었던 것은 맞습니다. 앞으로 처리하는 데 더욱더 신중하게 처리하고 더는 상처를 입지 않도록 최선을 다해서….]
While the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education is conducting an investigation to check the facts, the guardians of the victims are planning to request an additional audit of the school.
