Updated July 03, 2025
With college costs rising, many question the value of a degree, especially as artificial intelligence reshapes the job market. Some big tech companies, like Google and Meta, have decreased their hiring of recent graduates, according to SignalFire. Asher Bantock, head of research at SignalFire, told TechCrunch that AI is a significant factor.
The threat of automation extends beyond tech. McKinsey & Company estimates AI could displace 400 to 800 million workers by 2030. Though, some jobs remain relatively safe.
