On the 28th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced the investigation results and remanded Suspect A (15) to indictment without detention on the charge of special injury. Gangnam chief Kim Dong-soo said this morning at a briefing on the investigation’s findings: “Considering Mr. A’s habitual tendencies and his past behavior, it is believed that he committed the crime to attract attention of the media”.

However, Chief Kim explains that there has been no confirmation of circumstances such as planning a crime against Representative Bae or conspiring with others.

According to Chief Kim, during the police investigation, Mr. A did not directly state the specific motive of the crime, saying: “I went to the scene to meet an aspiring celebrity and accidentally met Congressman Bae, and unknowingly I committed the crime.” Group A is accused of injuring Representative Bae by hitting him on the head with a rock 15 times at around 5.12pm on the 25th of last month at a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It was revealed that he went to the building that day to see aspiring celebrity B and accidentally met Representative Bae.

Person A confirmed that Mr. B had made a reservation at the restaurant in the building via KakaoTalk’s open chat room and visited the site before Representative Bae made a reservation at the beauty salon in the same building. Person A, arrested by the police at the scene of the crime, was investigated in the presence of her guardian and then admitted to a mental health facility. When the deadline for emergency hospitalization expired on the 30th of last month, the police moved to protective shelter and continued the investigation.

Meanwhile, Group A appeared at the scene of Mr. Seol’s (28) warrant review, who damaged the wall of Gyeongbokgung Palace with a spray gun last year and threw his wallet at Mr. Seol and the actor Yoo Ah-in (38), who was leaving the Mapo police station after his drug arrest warrant was quashed. It was confirmed that he was the same person who threw the coffee at him.
