A 15-year-old boy has been remanded in custody in connection with the attempted rape of a woman at Kondotty Kottukkara in Malappuram. The boy admitted that he had been abused. The accused is a native of the same area as the girl. The attack took place at around 2 pm yesterday. His hands were tied and the shawl was inserted into the girl’s mouth in an attempt to torture her. When he resisted the torture attempt, he was stoned and injured. Police said they received CCTV footage as evidence. Defendant has injuries on his body.
The 21-year-old woman, who escaped during the attempted rape, was seeking refuge in a nearby house. The girl who was undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital has been discharged from the hospital.
