Tyre and Strategy Insight
Pirelli‘s preview focuses on tyre warm-up challenges, especially during qualifying. Drivers must heat their tyres carefully, avoiding lock-ups at heavy braking points, particularly at the end of long straights.
Low temperatures reduce grip and can cause graining on the tyres. This may lead to increased wear, suggesting a two-stop strategy as the most common choice last year. However, a one-stop strategy can still work if drivers warm up the tyres gradually to extend their life during a longer stint.
Pitting early for an undercut may not be efficient. In fact, going longer before the pit stop might be a better option.
