As the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) mutation virus, Omicron mutation, was confirmed in Korea, on the 2nd, Corona 19 confirmed in many places across the country. In particular, as of 6 pm, the number of new confirmed cases was already in the late 2000s, breaking the record for the same time period.
According to the quarantine authorities and each local government, including the Seoul Metropolitan Government, from 00:00 to 6pm on the same day, a total of 2,720 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in 17 cities and provinces across the country. This is an increase of 380 from the 2,340 people counted at the same time the previous day, and is the highest record based on the same time zone count at 6 pm.
As time remains until midnight, when the counting ends, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of 00:00 on the 3rd is expected to increase even more. If the number of confirmed cases the day before, there is a possibility that the number will exceed 5,000.
As of 00:00 on the 2nd, the number of new confirmed cases nationwide was 5,266, the highest since the Corona 19 incident.

The number of new confirmed cases in the past week was 3896 → 4067 → 3925 → 3308 → 3032 → 5123 → 5266, an average of 4,088 people per day. Excluding cases imported from overseas, the average daily number of confirmed cases is about 4,059.
Meanwhile, 1890 (69.5%) of the confirmed cases were confirmed in the metropolitan area and 830 (30.5%) in the non-metropolitan area.
By province, Seoul 930, Gyeonggi 717, Incheon 243, Chungnam 136, Busan 131, Gyeongbuk 82, Daegu 81, Gyeongnam 78, Chungbuk and Gangwon 75 each, Daejeon 51, Gwangju 36, Jeonbuk There were 28 confirmed cases, 26 in Jeonnam, 19 in Jeju, 10 in Ulsan and 2 in Sejong.
