[3보] 1,509 new confirmed cases… Critical Severe – Increase in death, increase in infections by foreigners residing in Korea

As the spread of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) continues in Korea, the number of new confirmed cases on the 24th was in the low 1,500 range.

The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon) announced that as of 00:00 on the same day, there were 1,509 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 239,287.

This is an increase of 91 from the previous day (1,418).

Compared to 1,372 people on Monday of last week (as of 00:00 on the 16th and 17th) a week ago, 137 more people.

In the case of the previous day, even though it was the beginning of the week and the operation of screening clinics was shortened mainly in the southern regions due to the 12th typhoon ‘Ohmais’, there were more confirmed cases than expected. As a result, the number of confirmed cases on the 25th is expected to be much larger than this.

Looking at the trend of the number of confirmed cases so far, due to the decrease in the number of tests on weekends and holidays, the number of confirmed cases decreased slightly until the beginning of the week, and then increased again from Wednesday, the starting point in the middle.

In particular, there are concerns that the ‘delta-type’ mutant virus from India, which has a stronger contagious power, is becoming more and more prevalent, and the spread of the virus may intensify as office workers return to daily life after summer vacation and elementary, middle and high schools begin.

Moreover, the rate of infection among foreigners residing in Korea has recently risen to 13.6%, and in some areas, one out of three confirmed cases is a foreigner, so the spread is so severe that the government is taking measures.

Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom at a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the same day ordered, “Expand preemptive inspections and strengthen on-site inspections in areas where foreigners are densely populated or where there are many foreign workers.”

◇ Out of 1,470 regional outbreaks, 960 people in the metropolitan area 65.3%… Non-metropolitan area: 510 people 34.7%

The momentum of the 4th pandemic, which started in earnest at the beginning of last month, is hardly easing.

The number of confirmed cases per day has been in the four digits for 49 days in a row since the 7th of last month (1,211 people).

From the 18th of this month to today, if you look at the new confirmed cases in the last week, 1,804 → 2,152 → 2,50 → 1,879 (corrected from the original 1,880) → 1,627 (corrected from the original 1,880) per day Corrected from 1,628) → 1,418 → 1,509, at least 1,400 people came out a day, and at most around 2,000 people came and went.

With an average of 1,777 confirmed cases per day for one week, the average number of local outbreaks reached 1,732.

If you look at the route of infection of the new confirmed cases on this day, 1,470 were local and 39 were imported.

By region, 429 people in Seoul, 469 in Gyeonggi, and 62 in Incheon, total 960 people (65.3%). The number of confirmed cases in the metropolitan area fell to the 800 level the previous day due to the effect of the holiday, but again increased to more than 100.

Non-metropolitan areas: Daegu 72, Gyeongnam 68, Daejeon 63, Chungnam 60, Busan 58, Jeonbuk 33, Chungbuk and Jeju 30 each, Gyeongbuk 28, Ulsan 26, Gangwon 16, Gwangju 12, A total of 510 people (34.7%), including 7 each in Sejong and Jeonnam.

◇ Continued increase in severe cases and deaths… Number of confirmed cases in 17 cities and provinces nationwide

The number of confirmed cases imported from abroad stood at 39, nine fewer than the previous day (48).

Of these, 12 were identified during airport or port quarantine procedures. The remaining 27 people are located in Seoul (9 people), Gyeonggi (5 people), Busan/Gyeongbuk (3 people each), Jeonnam (2 people), Daegu/Incheon/Gangwon/Jeonbuk/Gyeongnam (1 person each). He tested positive while in self-quarantine.

Combining local outbreaks and overseas inflows (excluding quarantine), the total is 975 in the metropolitan area, including 438 in Seoul, 474 in Gyeonggi, and 63 in Incheon. Nationwide, the number of confirmed cases has been confirmed in 17 cities and provinces.

The death toll increased by six from the previous day, bringing the total to 2,228. The national average fatality rate is 0.93%.

A total of 420 patients with severe gastritis were reported, an increase of 21 from the previous day (399).

The number of suspected patients tested at the screening clinic on the previous day was 55,733, 26,46 more than the 29,687 the day before.

Separately, 108,417 tests were conducted at temporary screening centers across the country.

So far, the number of COVID-19 diagnostic tests conducted at domestic screening clinics has totaled 12,749758, of which 239,287 were positive and 11,822,279 were negative. The remaining 688,192 cases are awaiting results.

As of 00:00 on that day, the cumulative positive rate was 1.88% (239,287 out of 12,7449,758).

On the other hand, Bang Dae-Bon excluded from the cumulative number of confirmed cases 4 people, one on the 18th and 23rd of last month, and one on the 21st and 22nd of this month, respectively.
