he told USA Today: “This is a⁣ train ‌route with multiple stops.

“Things⁤ could move on an express basis, skip the local ​stops⁣ and ⁢go direct to the main station.

“That’s⁣ where President Trump ⁢wants to⁢ move it − at high ​speed.”

It comes​ as a top Kremlin official warned​ Trump that⁣ Greenlanders could be allowed⁤ to vote on if they‌ want to become Russian soon.

Danish Prime Minister ​Mette Frederiksen Expresses ‍Disappointment with ‍trump’s Greenland Comments

Danish ‍Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen publicly ⁢voiced her dismay on January ⁣13,​ 2026, regarding former U.S. President Donald Trump‘s repeated expressions of interest ⁢in acquiring Greenland, characterizing ⁣the rhetoric as “betraying” a long-standing relationship. Speaking at a meeting in the British Parliament, frederiksen‌ stated, “People are not sleeping, children⁤ are afraid, and it ‌just⁢ fills everything these days.”

Frederiksen⁢ also affirmed ​Denmark’s commitment to bolstering ​security in the ‌Arctic‍ region. She emphasized, “We have no intentions ⁢of becoming American but we have worked ⁣towards more collaboration with the Americans for​ many, many years.” She ‍further stated, “We‌ feel ⁣betrayed. We feel⁤ the rhetoric is offensive, ​but also bewildering.”

The ⁤comments⁤ precede a ⁤meeting ‍scheduled for​ Wednesday, January 15, 2026, at ⁤the‍ White House. U.S. Vice President JD Vance will host senior ​officials ​from Denmark‌ and ⁤Greenland. According to The Sun, Denmark requested ⁤the meeting in‌ response to Trump’s continued assertions⁣ that the U.S. “must have” ⁣Greenland, framing it as a​ “national security priority.”

Greenland possesses substantial natural resources, ​including⁣ numerous key​ minerals. It​ is⁤ considered one of the most⁣ resource-rich nations in ‌Europe, ‍encompassing ⁢the world’s largest island.
