Uma Thurman’s Former Manhattan Duplex Relisted for $8.95 Million
A Manhattan duplex apartment once owned by actress Uma Thurman has returned to the market with an asking price of $8.95 million, as of . The property, located in the Gramercy Park neighborhood, offers a rare opportunity to own a spacious residence with access to the exclusive private park.
The two-floor apartment is a combination of two adjacent units that Thurman purchased between 2006 and 2012, according to reports. She initially acquired a larger duplex on the eighth and ninth floors for $2.65 million following her 2005 divorce from actor Ethan Hawke. In 2012, she added a neighboring single-floor unit for $1.55 million, expanding the property and undertaking extensive renovations over five years.
Thurman ultimately sold the combined apartment in 2016 for $6.6 million. The current owners, drawn to the exclusive access to Gramercy Park, have since made significant infrastructure improvements, including replacing the windows and air conditioning systems.
The residence, housed in a 1910 co-op building primarily comprised of duplexes, is described as “much larger than the typical downtown prewar unit.” It features five bedrooms and boasts ten-foot ceilings, herringbone floors, and a 14-foot-wide terrace overlooking Gramercy Park. Original features, such as crown moldings and a wood-burning fireplace, have been preserved.
The apartment also includes a luxurious primary suite with a Turkish steam bath, converted from a former maid’s room. The kitchen is equipped with top-of-the-line appliances from Miele and Bosch. The portion of the apartment Thurman added maintains its own entrance, offering flexibility as a separate in-law suite.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) from , the apartment represents a 35% gain in value over eight years, having been initially purchased for a total of $4.2 million.
“It was such a cozy place—it really was home for us,” Thurman told The New York Times when she first put the home on the market. “It’s a very special building with special residents.”
The building itself has undergone updates, including renovations to the common areas and lobby in 2024. It offers full-service amenities, including a door attendant and basement storage units. The listing is shared by Chris Kann and Jennifer Ireland of Corcoran.
Kann noted that the key to Gramercy Park was “very appealing to the current owners, who were engaged in Gramercy Park and had been looking for the right apartment.”
Following the sale of this property, Thurman settled at the River House on East 52nd Street, reportedly seeking a view of the water.
