Great Britain’s Curling Duo Continues Dominant Run at Milano Cortina 2026

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy – Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds of Great Britain continued their impressive form at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, securing their fifth consecutive victory in the mixed doubles curling competition with an 8-2 win over South Korea on Saturday, .

The British pair, now boasting a perfect 5-0 record, demonstrated control and precision throughout the match, building on earlier successes including a 7-4 victory against Sweden on . They opened the game strongly, scoring two points against the hammer in the first end and adding another in the second, establishing an early lead that the South Koreans were unable to overcome.

South Korea managed to register a single point in the third end, but the momentum quickly shifted back in favor of Mouat and Dodds. They responded with two points in both the fourth and fifth ends, extending their advantage to 7-1. The match effectively concluded when Britain added another point, leading 8-1 with two ends remaining.

“Those two games were probably our best performances for both of us,” Dodds said, reflecting on the team’s recent form. “We said after yesterday that we wanted to build and there were a couple of things we wanted to work on. We came out today and executed exactly what we wanted to do.”

The opening end proved pivotal, with Dodds’ well-placed guard setting up the opportunity for Britain to secure two points. This early advantage allowed them to dictate the pace of the game and capitalize on Korean errors. Dodds later secured a brace of points that opened a 5-1 interval lead.

According to BBC Sport pundit and 2022 Olympic gold medallist Vicky Wright, “Jen and Bruce were fantastic again. They just kept putting the pressure on and there was no let up for Korea.”

Mouat has reportedly been critical of his own performance in earlier games, but his partnership with Dodds is proving formidable. Dodds, in particular, has been consistently strong, statistically outperforming all but one player – Sweden’s Isabella Wranaa – across the first two days of competition.

The South Korean team, Kim Seon-yeong and Jeong Yeong-seok, struggled to find their rhythm, falling to their fourth consecutive loss. They now face a challenging path to the semifinals, with upcoming matches against the undefeated United States and a strong Canadian team.

With the win, Great Britain and the USA are currently leading the standings. Wright added, “Five out of five is really good going, but tomorrow is a really big day. Canada have only lost once – to the USA – and the USA are undefeated.” The competition is expected to intensify as teams vie for a place in the playoff rounds.

The British pair shook hands with their opponents before the final end, confirming the 8-2 victory. The result underscores their position as strong contenders for a medal at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
