Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District Launches Tree Pre-Sale
DOVER-FOXCROFT, ME – The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) is currently holding a pre-sale for trees, offering residents the opportunity to pre-order trees for spring delivery. The pre-sale, which began on February 3rd, allows customers to order Maine-grown apple and pear trees, as well as softwood and hardwood varieties online.
According to PCSWCD, the annual tree and plant sale is a significant fundraiser, providing locally-grown options for residents looking to enhance their properties. This year, the district has expanded its offerings to include a wider selection of forest trees, both softwood and hardwood, grown within the same climate zones as Piscataquis County.
“Every year, we sell out of the trees we source for our Tree and Plant Sale fundraiser,” stated Kacey Weber, PCSWCD’s executive director. “The demand for these high-quality trees is astounding.” The trees are bare-root, designed to be resilient and ready for planting in Maine’s variable weather conditions.
The tree pre-sale is scheduled to run through . All proceeds from the sale will benefit both the local farmers and businesses that supply the trees, and the PCSWCD’s educational programming initiatives.
PCSWCD will launch its full tree and plant sale fundraiser on . This expanded sale will include any remaining trees from the pre-sale, along with a broader selection of vegetable seedlings, herbs, perennials, annuals, and shrubs.
