[파이낸셜뉴스] Controversy has arisen after snot-like mucus was discovered in certain canned beer products produced domestically.

According to JTBC’s ‘Incidence Team Leader’ on the 5th, informant A purchased three boxes of 24 cans of beer at a warehouse-type hypermarket in the middle of last month.

Mr. A said, “I recently took out a can of beer that had been stored in the refrigerator and poured it into a glass, and I found sticky mucus. At first, it looked like palbochae, but over time, it became like snot.”

He continued, “Even if you eat it without knowing, you can’t eat it knowingly.” He added, “It wasn’t just one can of beer in question. When I opened other cans, there was a similar slime substance. There was no particular smell from this substance.”

Mr. A also said that when he checked the production date of the beer contained in the same box, it started with the same product number.

Accordingly, Mr. A did not drink the beer and immediately reported it to the manufacturer. The manufacturer estimated that the problem occurred when product was spilled during loading and unloading during the distribution process. At this time, a crack appears in the can and a small amount of air enters, which appears to be a phenomenon caused by protein and air meeting.

However, Mr. A said, “I did not find any dents in the can.” In the end, the manufacturer requested that the beer be discarded and offered other beer products from the same company as compensation.

Mr. A asked an expert to confirm whether the ingredients in the mucus were harmful or not.

A food expert said, “The beer in question is a sparkling liquor, that is, a mixed liquor, but it seems that the thickener or other protein ingredients were not mixed properly. “It is not toxic, but it seems like the manufacturer needs to take action.”

Meanwhile, similar reports continued online. On an online community, a post about the same beer was posted on the 27th of last month, saying, “I’ve been drinking this beer for several years, but recently this kind of mucus has appeared twice.”

He said, “At first, I thought I had spilled food on the beer can, but then I poured it into a cup and drank it, and within a week, this kind of mucus came out again.

“I feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed,” he said.

Other netizens also left comments saying, “I bought a product that was manufactured on March 25th at a large supermarket C and sold in a cold pack, but it came out of several cans, so I reported it to the customer service center.” “I also bought two boxes from the same large supermarket, and two cans are like that. .

“The manufacturing date is March 13th.”
