Aalen Wasseralfingen Kids’ Carnival Parade & Town Hall Storming

Children to Storm Town Hall in Aalen-Wasseralfingen’s Annual Carnival Celebration

Aalen-Wasseralfingen is preparing for a vibrant and festive , as the town hosts its third annual Kinderfaschingsumzug – a children’s carnival parade – culminating in a symbolic “Rathaussturm,” or town hall storm. The event promises a colorful spectacle as local kindergartens and schools participate in the parade through the streets of Wasseralfingen.

The parade will kick off on at 9:59 AM from Karlsplatz. Children, dressed in imaginative costumes, will process through the town, led by the Wasserschnalzer Schludda Gugga, a local musical group. The route will take them along Pestalozzistraße towards the Weitbrechtschule, then onto Albertus-Magnus-Straße, crossing Urbanstraße and continuing along Dopferweg.

The culmination of the parade will be the Rathaussturm at Stefansplatz. This year marks a change in tradition, as the storming of the town hall will now occur immediately following the parade, rather than as a separate afternoon event as in previous years. The children will symbolically “capture” the town hall key, representing a temporary takeover of power within the district.

According to the Bezirksamt Wasseralfingen, the event is free and open to the public. Organizers anticipate a large turnout, with over 500 children participating, accompanied by more than 70 adults. The Wasseralfinger Kitas and Schulen have been actively preparing for the event, decorating the Narrenbaum – the town’s carnival tree – with colorful flags created by the children themselves.

The parade route is designed to bring the festivities to various parts of Wasseralfingen, passing by local landmarks such as Anjas Caféstüble. The Wasserschnalzer Schludda Gugga will provide a lively soundtrack to the procession, and members of the Wasseralfingen/Hofen Volunteer Fire Department will ensure the safety of the participants and spectators.

The event is expected to be a highlight of the Fasching season in Aalen and its surrounding communities. Local officials emphasize the importance of the Kinderfaschingsumzug as a way to bring joy and community spirit to the region. Ortsvorsteher Josef A. Fuchs noted that while some previous participants in the Rathaussturm are unavailable this year, the event will continue to be a vibrant and memorable experience for all involved.

The Kinderfaschingsumzug builds on the tradition of carnival celebrations in Germany, though recent years have seen some events cancelled due to inclement weather. In , several cities in western Germany cancelled their Rose Monday parades due to storm warnings, with winds gusting up to 100 km/h (60 mph). However, the forecast for in Aalen-Wasseralfingen currently does not indicate similar conditions.

The event follows a recent Kinderfest held in Wasseralfingen, where 400 children participated in games and competitions, further demonstrating the community’s commitment to providing engaging activities for its youngest residents.
