Account locked; Jason 41 lakh compensation for legal battle against Facebook Man sues Facebook for locking him out of his account; gets Rs 41 lakh compensation

A person who won a legal battle against social media giant Facebook was awarded $50,000 (Rs 40.94 lakh) as compensation. The lawsuit was filed against Facebook by Jason Crawford from Georgia, USA. He filed a complaint stating that Facebook denied him access to his account for no clear reason. Furthermore, the company refused to cooperate with Jason to resolve the issue.

“I think it’s a bad business practice. It’s a bad way to treat people. At least tell me what I did wrong.” – Jason Crawford told Fox News. Repeated attempts to contact Facebook parent company Meta (META) were also unsuccessful. Jason also said that he had decided to file the case.

In the past, Jason had received a warning from Facebook for political comments. But this time, the Facebook account was completely locked without any explanation. ‘One Sunday morning when I woke up and tried to open the Facebook app, I couldn’t, only to find that my account had been locked. The platform gave me a short and cryptic message stating that I had breached their standards of child sexual exploitation. – said Jason.

Jason said he took the path of the law when there were no other ways to prove his innocence. He, who is also a lawyer, filed a complaint against Facebook in August 2022. The suit is against him from getting access based on an infringement that never happened.

However, there was no response from Facebook’s legal team despite the court case. A judge ordered Meta to pay Crawford $50,000 as a result of his failure to respond. The tech giant eventually approached him.

Jason Crawford later came forward to show that he got justice and was counted back. But he says his motive for taking legal action was not the financial compensation he received. Instead, he added, his goal was to teach Facebook a lesson about its lack of transparency and failure to respond.
