Updated June 14, 2025
las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson will sit out Friday’s game against the Dallas Wings after entering concussion protocol. The declaration follows an injury sustained in Wednesday’s loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, where Wilson took a blow to the face in the third quarter.
Aces coach Becky Hammon commented after the game,”She was bleeding. She’s going to go to the doctor tomorrow and see what’s going on. I don’t have anything beyond that.”
This marks the first game this season the Aces will be without Wilson, a three-time MVP. She has been averaging 20.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.6 blocks, and 2 steals per game. The aces currently hold a 4-4 record.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Wings are looking to secure their second win of the season. They face injury challenges with Ty harris sidelined due to season-ending knee surgery, Maddy Siegrist out with a right knee injury, and Teiara McCowan unavailable due to EuroBasket commitments. DiJonai Carrington (left shoulder) and Myisha Hines-Allen (right knee) are available after being on the injury report.
The Wings started the season with a 1-10 record. Rookie star Paige Bueckers recently returned after dealing with concussion protocol and illness, scoring 35 points against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday. Bueckers leads the team in scoring (17.6 points), assists (6.3), steals (1.9),and blocks (1) per game.
What’s next
The Aces will need to adjust their strategy without Wilson as they face the Wings, who are eager to capitalize on Bueckers’ performance and secure a much-needed victory.
