Actor Yoon Kye-sang Opens Up About Future Plans and ‘Kidnapping Day’

Renowned actor Yoon Kye-sang recently discussed his plans for the future in an exclusive interview. Sitting in a quaint cafe located in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Yoon shared insights on his latest drama ‘Kidnapping Day,’ directed by Park Yoo-young and written by Kim Je-young. This humorous thriller follows the unexpected collaboration between a clumsy kidnapper and a brilliant 11-year-old girl. Since its premiere, ‘Kidnapping Day’ has garnered immense popularity, with its viewership rating surpassing 4%.
In the drama, Yoon Kye-sang works alongside talented young actress Choi Ro-hee, who portrays the character Yuna. Yoon praised Choi, stating, “She’s not like other child actors who pursue their parents’ dreams. Yuna is driven by her own desire to become an actress. Her motivation and eagerness to learn are commendable. Among my colleagues, she is the most receptive and attentive, making our time on set truly enjoyable.”
Yoon Kye-sang further revealed that improvisation plays a significant role in their acting. He shared, “We often go beyond our scripted lines and react spontaneously. Yuna adapts to these unexpected moments effortlessly, contributing to the scene’s authenticity.” One instance mentioned was the scene where Yuna playfully hits Yoon Kye-sang.
The actor, who tied the knot with businessman Cha Hye-young in June 2022, expressed his thoughts on having children. Yoon stated, “Since marrying, I’ve become more cautious about our future. With a wife to consider, I am mindful of how my choices may impact her life. Additionally, being a public figure, I continually worry about causing harm unintentionally. Hence, I tend to stay home to ensure everyone’s well-being, including my wife, who has her own career.”
When asked whether his future daughter would follow in Yuna’s footsteps, Yoon Kye-sang replied, “If my child possesses talent or has a passion for acting like Yuna, I would support her endeavors and approach it with caution.”
Aside from discussing his personal life, Yoon Kye-sang addressed the popularity of MBC drama ‘Goal Achieved! Saturday – God’s Parenting Diary’ coinciding with the broadcast of ‘Kidnapping Day.’ Reflecting on this phenomenon, Yoon questioned if viewers are drawn to a particular type of content. He also expressed his enjoyment of the show, stating, “‘Childcare Diary’ is an entertaining program that I have personally relished.”
Furthermore, Yoon Kye-sang humorously reminisced about his youthful appearance and acknowledged the differences with age. He jokingly shared, “During my younger days, I may have questioned my own attractiveness. As time went on, I realized the unique charm of exuberant youth. Undoubtedly, I had my share of cuteness. Even as an idol, if I were to debut now…” Yoon trailed off, drawing laughter.
