Actress Kim Hee-sun Opens Up About Career Break After Giving Birth
In a recent appearance on the TV program ‘You Quiz on the Block’, renowned actress Kim Hee-sun shared her experience of feeling the fear of a career break after giving birth.
During the show, Kim Hee-sun spoke about taking a hiatus from her acting career for approximately six years after getting married and having a baby.
Recalling those days, she revealed, “While I was feeding my baby, I would watch TV and see other actors who were actively working at the same time as me. It made me wonder what it’s like to be in the spotlight again.”
She further admitted that she faced moments of self-doubt and criticism, but the birth of her child made her reflect on how to make a comeback in the entertainment industry.
Kim Hee-sun also expressed that she realized how much she missed acting during her break. “I didn’t work abundantly in the past, but I truly felt the happiest when I was on set,” she said.
Discussing her role in the JTBC drama ‘Woman of Dignity’, which gained much attention, she shared, “I portrayed a character named ‘Uajin’ who is married but discovers her husband’s affair. It made me reflect on the concept of loyalty.”
Despite playing a character that resonated with her personal situation, she admitted to feeling a sense of sadness while acting. However, her positive mindset garnered a great response from the audience, leading her to reevaluate her perspective.
