Charged with breaching the Road Traffic Act… A fellow passenger also tried to aid and abet drinking

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Dae-hee = Actor Kim Sae-ron (22), who had an accident when he crashed into a street tree and a transformer while drinking and driving, was transferred to trial.
According to the legal community on the 19th, the 5th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Woo-young) charged Mr. Kim without custody on the 16th on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (driving drunk and not acting after an accident).
A passenger in his 20s who was riding in Kim’s vehicle at the time was also handed over to a pending trial on a charge of aiding and abetting drunken driving.
Kim is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul around 8:00am on May 18 and of crashing into guardrails and trees on the side of the road several times.
Kim’s car also collided with a transformer, and electricity supply was cut off to 57 places, including nearby shops, and was restored in about three hours.
At the time of the accident, Mr Kim’s blood alcohol level was measured at more than 0.2%, which is well above the license revocation level of 0.08%.
Because Kim refused to have his blood alcohol level measured, the police requested a blood test from the National Institute for Scientific Investigation.
The police sent Mr Kim to the prosecution on June 28, and the prosecution decided to dispose of him in about six months.
Kim began as a child actor and appeared in films such as ‘The Man from Nowhere’, ‘Neighbours’, ‘Barbie’ and dramas such as ‘The Queen’s Classroom’ and ‘Witch’s Bogam’, but stopped working after the an accident.
