The Council opened an investigation into Meta in December regarding a possible violation of competition law by linking its social media platforms, Threads and Instagram.
In March, the Council applied a temporary measure to Meta with the aim of obstructing data sharing between these two platforms.
Meta said last month that it would temporarily close Threads in Türkiye to comply with that order.
The Council’s decision stated that users will be able to merge personal data between Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp with their consent, and will be notified about the use of the data.
The decision added that users will be able to change their settings later, if necessary, by using the “Accounts Center” on the platforms.
