According to reports, the Advanced Program Research Agency of the United States Department of Defense (DARPA) released part of the test carried out over the Edwards Air Force Base in California in September last year. At the time, a modified fighter F-16 (X-62A) controlled by AI and an F-16 piloted by a human pilot were flying around each other at a top speed of 1,931 km/h. The AI ​​F-16 performed defensive and offensive maneuvers and approached the manned fighter at approximately 610m.

It was not revealed which F-16 had the upper hand in this dogfight. DARPA explained that this dogfight represents important progress in the ‘Air Combat Evolution’ (ACE) program, which is developing an autonomous combat system where AI controls aircraft.
