Aimee Mann Revisits ‘Lost in Space’ on East Coast Tour
Aimee Mann is embarking on an East Coast tour, including stops at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg and Long Island’s East End in June. The tour celebrates the 22 1/2 year anniversary of her album, “Lost In Space.”
Mann’s tour will feature songs from her 2002 album. She noted the album’s unique sound and mood as reasons for revisiting it.
From her early days with ’Til tuesday to her Grammy-winning folk album “Mental Illness,” Mann discussed her artistic journey. she described her initial band as experimental and unlistenable, leading her to seek a more melodic sound with ’Til Tuesday. “Acoustic guitar-based pop with a little folk flavor is my favorite place to park,” Mann said.

Mann acknowledged the importance of lyricism in her work.”Words are very important, and it’s fun to try to get better at writing lyrics and to be more exact in your language,” she said.
Based in Los Angeles with her husband, Michael Penn, Mann also shared her fondness for her friends in Brooklyn, where she stays during her New York visits.

Mann is currently writing songs for a new record and developing a musical based on her 2005 album, “The Forgotten Arm,” which explores drug addiction and relationships. She anticipates a workshop presentation at Joe’s Pub this fall.
