AkzoNobel Company has just put into operation 6 new production lines in Que Vo industrial park, Bac Ninh province.

The project includes 5 new production lines for electrostatic powder coatings (Powder Coatings) and 1 water-based coating production line (Water borne facility) for the consumer electronics industry. The total investment amount is about 18.5 million Euro.

Not only does it increase product productivity for both business segments, the project is expected to help the company promote sustainable production goals in the Vietnamese market and in the region.

With this investment, AkzoNobel aims to increase its total production capacity to meet the needs of its global business partners and strengthen its leading position in the paints and coatings industry in the Asian market.

Mr. Jeff Jirak, director of AkzoNobel’s global electrostatic powder coating unit, commented: “Vietnam is becoming an attractive destination for investors. Expanding 5 more modern production lines in Bac Ninh, we expect to increase supply, provide more optimal services, and promote a sustainable future for the paint and coatings industry, especially in the region. Northern region of Vietnam”.

Mr. Maximilien Schréder, commercial director, global consumer electronics paint industry, North Asia automotive paint & refinishing unit, AkzoNobel, said: “Expanding production capacity in Bac Ninh for AkzoNobel allows AkzoNobel to provide the most optimal water-based coating technology, to bring effective coating solutions to partners in the fields of information technology, wireless devices and home appliances.

We are also constantly innovating production methods and finding modern technology to reduce VOC content (roughly translated: volatile organic compounds) in all products. This investment is a testament to our belief in Vietnam’s potential and a strong signal of our ongoing support for the region’s development.”

In the context that Vietnam is an attractive market for global brands’ manufacturing (OEM), these new lines will allow AkzoNobel to expand capacity for electrostatic powder coating and water-based coating products. (Water Borne Coatings) for the consumer electronics industry, providing the market with advanced, safe paint lines to meet the increasing needs of businesses.

In addition, electrostatic powder coating products and water-based coatings for the consumer electronics industry produced from these lines are all sustainable and reusable products. This will support partners in meeting the ESG (Environment – Social – Governance) set of business standards, thereby improving competitiveness.

AkzoNobel’s factory in Bac Ninh was established in 2010, specializing in the production of electrostatic powder paint and automotive coatings and performance paints (including three main segments: consumer electronics, motorbikes, car interiors) .

The new production lines will focus on meeting high standards of sustainable manufacturing, supporting the company’s goal of halving carbon emissions by 2030.
