In Japan, after the funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, an investigation into the motive of the murder against gunman Tetsuya Yamagami is in full swing.

Yamagami stated that his family went bankrupt after his mother dedicated all her fortune to the Unification Church, and that it ruined her life.

It is said that the hatred that had been cherished for about 20 years led to terrorism.

Correspondent Hyun Young-jun, Tokyo correspondent, covered the story.

According to Japanese media reports based on Yamagami’s police statement, in 1998, Yamagami’s mother inherited a house and a construction company from her parents.

At the exchange rate at the time, it was worth more than 500 million won, and we sold it all in just six months.

Yamagami stated that her mother donated all this money to the Unification Church.

“The issue of donations reported in some media is currently under investigation by the police, so I will not comment here.”

In the end, three years later, she was unable to pay the monthly rent of 700,000 won for a rental house, and Yamagami’s mother went bankrupt.

At the time, Yamagami was in his early 20s.

After dropping out of college due to her mother’s bankruptcy, Yamagami’s hatred continued to grow.

Yamagami, who believed that the Unification Church was the cause of his ruined life, took revenge on former Prime Minister Abe, who he thought had something to do with the Unification Church, and made bombs and guns himself.

Police investigating the shooting said it took 9.1 seconds for Yamagami, who was in India, to walk out of the driveway and shoot the first shot.

The second shot should have been stopped before the first shot, as the second shot took place only 2.6 seconds later.

“Failing to fulfill the responsibility of security guards for important personnel is taken very seriously. As the Minister of the National Police Agency, I am ashamed.”

The Japanese media believe that Yamagami is likely to be sentenced to death for his well-planned and brutal public conduct.
