Alliance Theatre Names Brandon Kahn managing Director
Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre has selected Brandon Kahn as its new managing director, effective Aug.1. Kahn will take over the role from Mike Schleifer, who served for 11 years before announcing his move to Lincoln Center Theater in March. Kahn will work alongside artistic directors Christopher Moses adn Tinashe Kajese-Bolden to shape the Alliance Theatre’s future.
Kahn expressed his enthusiasm for the new position. “Being named the next managing director of the Alliance Theatre is truly a dream come true,” Kahn said. He added he looks forward to collaborating with the staff, board, Woodruff Arts Center, and the atlanta community.
With more than two decades of experience in theater management and stage management,Kahn has been instrumental in developing world premiere productions. Since 2018, he served as general manager at Houston’s Alley Theatre, focusing on improving operational systems. His work included transfer productions such as Born With Teeth and Cambodian rock Band.
Before his time at the Alley Theatre, Kahn spent six seasons with the Williamstown Theatre Festival. His experience also includes freelance stage management on Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. He currently serves as board secretary for the League of resident Theatres (LORT).
Kajese-Bolden and Moses jointly stated they are eager to welcome Kahn to atlanta. They cited his professional experience and belief in the Alliance Theatre’s mission as a perfect fit for the institution and the city.
The executive search was conducted by Corps Team, with support from Woodruff Arts Center leadership and the Alliance board’s search committee. Kahn will relocate to Atlanta with his wife, Jennifer kahn, founder of Scenery Bags, and their two sons, Hudson and Judah.
Founded in 1968, the Alliance Theatre is a leading producing theater in the Southeast, reaching over 165,000 patrons annually with a budget of $25 million. The theater emphasizes community, curiosity, collaboration, and excellence, aiming to represent Atlanta’s diverse population.
