Hangzhou Kelin has announced a strategic acquisition to gain control of Shanghai Kepler Robot Co., Ltd., a robotics firm specializing in industrial automation. The transaction involves the use of up to 300 million Yuan of Hangzhou Kelin’s own capital to acquire a 41.57% stake in the company from founder Yang Hua and other shareholders.
This acquisition builds upon an existing 9.43% stake held by Hangzhou Kelin. Upon completion of the purchase, Hangzhou Kelin will hold a controlling interest in Shanghai Kepler Robot Co., Ltd., which is referred to as Kepler
.
Based on the terms of the deal, the enterprise value of Kepler is calculated to be approximately 720 million Yuan. The sale of a Series A robotics company occurs amid a broader market trend emphasizing Embodied AI—the integration of artificial intelligence into physical bodies to interact with the real world.

Kepler was established in 2023 by two industry veterans, Yang Hua and Hu Debo. The company’s name was inspired by the Kepler planet, which is recognized as one of the most potentially habitable planets.
Yang Hua, a co-founder, previously founded Chunmi Technology, a company focused on intelligent kitchen appliances within the Xiaomi ecosystem. His professional background also includes experience at Motorola, and he holds a degree in information technology from the Inner Mongolian University.
The other co-founder, Hu Debo, previously served as a senior employee at ZTE and Huawei. He completed his studies at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden.

The strategic focus of Kepler is the deployment of robotics within industrial scenarios. The company aims to replace human labor in tasks that are repetitive, high-load, or dangerous.
The motivation for founding the company was tied to the anticipation of a major shift in industrial technology. Regarding the origin of the venture, Hu Debo stated:
Our damalige Einschätzung war, dass nach der Kommunikation die nächste große industrielle Welle die Robotik sein würde, die bereits einen deutlichen Wachstumstrend zeigte. Wir sollten also etwas dagegen tun.
Hu Debo
This acquisition signals a consolidation phase for some humanoid robot startups as the industry moves from early-stage funding toward operational control and industrial implementation.
