AMLO points out that fiscal measures have already been issued along the entire southern border

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador pointed out that the southern border of Mexico, by decree, is a tax-free zone, similar to the north, in which taxes are not paid for the products that are purchased.

“We have been promoting all trade on the southern border for two years and tax measures have already been issued along the entire border, and the purpose is for Chetumal to return to what it was before. It was, in terms of trade, Chetumal was a free, free zone, so you could go buy merchandise, you didn’t pay taxes and you could get cheap merchandise,” he said.

At a press conference, López Obrador commented that theThe decree was withdrawn because when the free trade agreement with Belize was signed, said policy was canceled. “That’s why you have to watch trade deals carefully,” she said.

He said that there must be a regional campaign so that the inhabitants of the southern border know the benefits of the decree.

“In the case of Chetumal, what is being promoted is that first it be known that there is a decree that I approved so that taxes are not paid, very similar to that of the northern border, a free zone is declared. Instrumentation is needed, since there are the laws,” he asserted.
