Another Arrest in Crypto Investor Kidnapping and Torture Case

A second man has been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and torture of an Italian crypto millionaire in New York City. William Duplessie, 33, of Florida, surrendered to police this week, according to the New York Times, and faces charges related to the violent incident involving Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan, 28.
Carturan was reportedly held captive for about two weeks in a manhattan apartment.He told police he was bound with electrical tape,shocked with a Taser,threatened with a chainsaw,and even dangled from the building’s roof. Authorities say Polaroids taken at the scene corroborate Carturan’s account. The alleged motive was to obtain access to Carturan’s cryptocurrency accounts, potentially worth millions.
John Woeltz, 37, was previously arrested in connection with the incident. He was reportedly renting the apartment were the alleged torture took place. Beatrice Folchi,24,was also arrested but later released pending further investigation. Her connection to Woeltz and duplessie remains unclear.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch stated that Duplessie will be charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment along with Woeltz.
