Another Arrest in Crypto Investor Kidnapping and Torture Case

A second man has been arrested in connection with ⁢the alleged kidnapping and torture of an Italian crypto⁣ millionaire in New York City. William Duplessie, 33, of Florida, surrendered to police this week, according to ⁢the New York Times, and faces charges related to the violent incident involving Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan, 28.

Carturan was reportedly held ⁢captive for about two weeks in a manhattan apartment.He told police he was bound with electrical tape,shocked with a Taser,threatened with ⁤a ‍chainsaw,and ⁣even dangled from the building’s roof. Authorities⁤ say Polaroids taken at the scene corroborate Carturan’s account. The alleged motive was to obtain ⁤access to Carturan’s cryptocurrency accounts, potentially worth millions.

John Woeltz, 37, was previously arrested‍ in connection with the incident. He was⁢ reportedly renting the apartment were the alleged torture took place. Beatrice Folchi,24,was also⁢ arrested but later released pending further investigation. ⁢Her connection ⁤to Woeltz and duplessie remains unclear.

NYPD Commissioner ‍Jessica ⁤S. Tisch stated that⁢ Duplessie will be charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment⁣ along with Woeltz.
