Latest Update to Include New Weather Tool

According to IT media outlet Nine to Five Mac, Apple is set to introduce a new tool to the weather app with the upcoming release of iOS 17.2.

Enhancements Across Various OS Features

With the new update, several OS features including messages, action buttons, camera, weather, Siri voice assistant, and the journal app are all set to receive upgrades. Notably, the journal app is also expected to debut a new diary feature.

New Widget Additions to the Weather App

The weather app will see the addition of three new types of widgets. These include ‘Detailed Information’ providing insights on precipitation, UV index, wind, etc., ‘Daily Forecast’ to display weather conditions and daily forecasts based on the user’s location, and ‘Sunrise and Sunset’ for tracking the sunrise and sunset times at the user’s current location.

To make use of these new widgets, users can simply long-press on the home screen or another app page to display the ‘+’ icon in the top left corner and then search or swipe for the ‘Weather Widget’.

Improvements in Accuracy and Reliability

While Apple’s weather app has faced criticism for its accuracy and reliability in the past, these issues are expected to be addressed with the upcoming update. iOS 17.2 is currently in its beta version, with the official release expected to coincide with the upcoming Christmas season.
