Apple tops TSMC’s customer list, accounting for 25% of total revenue in 2023

The report says TSMC plans to start producing 2nm chips in 2025 and Apple is expected to be the first customer to adopt this technology.

According to a report from Fast Technology on March 3, information sources revealed that in 2023, Apple paid TSMC an amount of up to 17.52 billion USD, equivalent to about 1,261.44 billion yuan, accounting for 25 billion USD. % of TSMC’s total revenue.

TSMC does not typically disclose its customer relationships, however, under US legal regulations, TSMC is required to disclose information about any customer that contributes more than 10% of its revenue.

In its report to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), TSMC described Apple as a “Class A Customer”, with payments amounting to $17.52 billion for the previous year, equivalent to with 25% of the company’s revenue.

In TSMC’s documents, Nvidia is ranked as a “Class B Customer” and has become the second largest customer, paying 7.73 billion USD (approximately 556.56 billion yuan) to TSMC, accounting for 11% of total revenue.

Apple is one of TSMC’s leading partners, with priority access and exclusive use of its latest technologies for a certain period of time. The report indicates that TSMC plans to start mass production of 2nm chips in 2025, and the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to become the first device to use this advanced technology, with exclusive rights across the entire line.
