Apple Watch Users Report Abnormal Power Consumption and Overheating Issues After watchOS 10.1 Update

Apple’s WatchOS 10.1 update, released last Saturday (10/26), has faced criticism from users for its abnormal power consumption. Many Apple Watch users have reported that their watches consume an unusual amount of power after the upgrade. Additionally, some users have experienced overheating issues, causing the watch to fail to charge properly. A notification message stating “It cannot be charged due to the temperature of the Apple Watch” even appears in some cases. This issue seems to affect both older and newer Apple Watch models, ranging from the latest Series 9 and Ultra 2 to the earlier Series 5. However, it is worth noting that not all users have encountered these abnormalities, as some have reported a normal functioning device post-update.

In response to the complaints, Apple has acknowledged the problem through an internal memo and assured users that they are actively working on a solution. It is expected that a sub-update version of watchOS 10.1.1 will be released to address the battery consumption issue before the upcoming iPhone 17.1.1 update. However, the specific fix for overheating anomalies may have to wait until the release of watchOS version 10.2, which is anticipated to be launched in December.

In other news, watchOS 10.1 brings a new feature to the Apple Watch, allowing users to unlock the device with a “two-finger tap” gesture. Apple has also announced 11 different ways to control the watch, enhancing user experience and convenience.
