Popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted last year that the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025 could use a resin-coated copper (RCC) motherboard, and Digitimes recently cited internal sources saying that at least one Apple model Next generation Watch will be launched. Motherboards made of this material can also be used.
The RCC material is a thin film of copper coated in resin. This makes the motherboard seem thinner overall. This frees up space for other components, for example to enlarge the battery.
