North Carolina A&T Volleyball Team Secures Fifth Seed for CAA Tournament

The North Carolina A&T volleyball team has earned the fifth seed for the 2024 Coastal Athletic Conference (CAA) Volleyball Tournament. The tournament will take place from November 21-23 at TU Arena in Towson, Maryland. The Aggies will play on November 21 at 3 p.m. They are focused on improving their performance leading up to the tournament.

On Friday, the Aggies defeated the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in three sets: 25-17, 25-16, and 30-28, completing their final regular-season series. Head coach Hal Clifton praised the team’s practice and effort on the court.

Freshman Tyne Ross led the Aggies with 17 kills, contributing to their overall record of 16-9 and an 11-6 mark in CAA play. Senior Laurel Rogers recorded eight digs, and sophomore Leonor Polizzi added 37 assists.

The Aggies started strong, limiting the Seahawks to a .000 hitting percentage in the second set. The third set was more competitive, with A&T gaining an early lead through back-to-back service aces from freshman Luca Radnai. Despite leading 17-10, the Aggies faced a powerful comeback by the Seahawks, who tied the set at 24-24.

In a closely contested finale, the Aggies clinched the match with key plays by Ross, Howell, and Estrada. Howell expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments and the support from their community.

The first set began with Howell scoring an ace, and the Aggies continuously extended their lead. The second set saw A&T rally after falling behind early, thanks to a strong serving performance from freshman Charlie Meadoweal.

The Aggies will honor their seniors, Ceci Carter, Howell, Maya Johnson, Rogers, and Sanabria, during the upcoming Senior Day celebration.
