Australia’s Victoria reports highest coronavirus cases this year – MCOT Thai News Agency

SYDNEY, Sept. 20 – The Australian state of Victoria reported the highest number of new coronavirus cases this year. New South Wales reported its lowest number of new infections in more than three weeks.

Victoria which Melbourne is the capital city reported today that 567 new cases were reported, up from 507 the day before and most of them were infected in Melbourne. The number of new infected cases exceeded 500 for the fifth day in a row. And one more death, Victoria said. Strict lockdown measures will be lifted after 70 percent of adults have completed two doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with the target expected to be reached on October 26. 80 per cent before the start of Australia’s famous “Melbourne Cup” horse race on November 2. Victoria now has 72 per cent of the first dose vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Ms Gladys Beregiglian, New South Wales Premier Sydney, the capital, said 935 new cases were confirmed on Sunday, down from 1,083 on Sunday and the lowest since August 27, with four more deaths. New South Wales states that 82% of the adult population received their first dose of vaccination. This is higher than the national first-dose vaccination rate of 71 percent, while Australia’s rate of two-dose vaccinations is 47 percent.
