The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters said, “One additional patient infected with the BA.2.75 mutation was confirmed in Korea.”

The fourth confirmed BA.2.75 in Korea is a 20-year-old living in Chungcheongbuk-do, who showed symptoms on the 13th and was confirmed to be confirmed.

This confirmed person was confirmed as an acquaintance of a foreigner in his 30s living in Cheongju, the second confirmed BA.2.75.

Quarantine authorities are presuming that he was infected after coming in contact with the second confirmed patient from India on the 5th at the airport.

Based on this, the authorities regard BA.2.75 as the first case of infection in the region and are conducting an epidemiological investigation into the confirmed case.

As of Monday’s announcement, the number of new confirmed cases today is 35,883, the highest in 13 weeks.

Compared to a week ago, the figure is 1.36 times higher and 2.83 times higher than two weeks ago.

There were also 144 patients with severe cases, an increase of 1.77 times from Monday of last week, and the nationwide utilization rate of critically ill beds rose to 23%.

The authorities partially strengthened quarantine amid concerns that the speed of the epidemic might accelerate, such as local infection of BA.2.75 was confirmed.

First of all, overseas travelers who had to undergo a PCR test within three days of entry are required to undergo a PCR test on the first day of entry from today.

In principle, you must go through the inspection on the day of entry, but if it is difficult, you must complete the inspection by the next day.

Face-to-face visits in nursing homes and psychiatric hospitals and facilities are also prohibited from today.

Residents are prohibited from going out or staying overnight except for essential outpatient treatment, and workers must undergo a weekly PCR test if it has not been 3 months since the 4th vaccination.
