Baltimore Ravens Hire Declan Doyle as Offensive Coordinator

Ravens Name Declan Doyle Offensive Coordinator

The Baltimore Ravens announced that Declan Doyle has been hired as their offensive coordinator. The appointment comes just days after Jesse Minter was introduced as the Ravens’ new head coach.

Doyle, 29, joins the Ravens after a successful season with the Chicago Bears, where he served as offensive coordinator under head coach Ben Johnson, who called the plays. He is credited with helping the Bears’ offense make significant strides, improving from last in the NFL in yards in to sixth ( yards per game) in . The Bears also saw an increase in points scored, moving from 28th to ninth (25.9 points per game) over the same period.

“We are thrilled to welcome Declan to the Ravens Flock,” Minter stated. “An architect of offense, Declan will build around our players through communication, collaboration, relationships and trust. His innovative mindset, collaborative spirit, team-first approach and extensive NFL experience make him an outstanding addition to the Ravens organization.”

Doyle reportedly considered an offer from the Philadelphia Eagles before accepting the position with Baltimore, but the opportunity to work with two-time MVP Lamar Jackson proved too appealing. Notably, Doyle and Jackson are the same age.

The Ravens’ offense experienced a decline in , falling to 16th in yards and 11th in points. This downturn was partially attributed to injuries that sidelined Jackson for four games. A key task for Doyle will be to revitalize the offense and help Jackson return to MVP form.

Prior to his role with the Bears, Doyle held positions as a tight ends coach for the Denver Broncos () and an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints (). His path to the NFL began as a student assistant for the Iowa Hawkeyes’ offensive staff after a junior college baseball career at Iowa Western Community College, where he was team captain.

Doyle will become the youngest offensive playcaller in the NFL, having never previously been an offensive playcaller at any level. He beat out several other up-and-coming coaches for the position, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the league.

The hiring of Doyle is expected to be crucial as the Ravens consider re-signing impending free agents.
