Banking on the Holidays: What to Expect from Your Bank During Extended National Breaks

The Banks Association warned that a ⁣significant increase in transactions is expected in the​ coming days.

Banking Procedures During National Holidays

The National Holidays celebration includes at ⁤least five days of celebrations and two essential holidays, so⁣ if you must do banking procedures, we will tell you how the banks will ⁤work.

As ⁢reported by the Association of Banks​ (ABIF), this‌ 2024 a significant increase in transactions over ‌the⁢ long weekend is expected.

Banking Schedule During National Holidays

  • Monday, September 16: Normal Hours
  • Tuesday, September 17: Closes ⁣early at 2:00 pm
  • Wednesday, September‌ 18: Inevitable‌ Holidays. Branches closed.
  • Thursday, September 19: Inevitable Holidays. Branches closed.
  • Friday, September 20: ‌Normal holidays. Branches closed.

“In addition, ⁤it is suggested to ‍take advantage of ​the ⁣extensive network of pick-up points and prefer to use digital​ payment methods, such as debit and credit⁢ cards,‌ for more‌ safety and ​convenience,”⁣ they said from ABIF.

Security ⁣Measures⁢ During National Holidays

Luis⁤ Opazo, ​general manager of⁤ ABIF, highlighted ⁤that‌ “we are⁤ working ‍closely with the Undersecretary for Crime Prevention and the Public Ministry to ​mitigate crime. It is​ essential that customers remain alert and ⁣notify ⁤the entity’s ‌security personnel of‌ any suspicious behavior.”

Practical Tips for ⁣National​ Holidays 2024

The Central Bank of Chile presented a series of recommendations ⁢on recognizing bills‌ and coins ⁤during ⁢these National Holidays.

  • Prefer digital payment methods: Debit and⁤ credit cards offer greater security and convenience compared to using cash.
  • Plan‌ your cash withdrawal in​ advance: Avoid crowds and potential inconvenience at ATMs.
  • Foreign ⁤trips: Make⁣ sure ⁤you activate your credit and debit cards in advance, and check​ relevant security measures through your bank.
  • Be careful with​ your banking information: ‍Keep your keys⁣ private ​and monitor balances remotely⁢ via apps⁤ or web portals.
  • Report any suspicious activity or irregular movements to your banking institution⁣ immediately.
