Base Mac Mini Sold Out: M4 Model Unavailable as Demand Surges and RAM Shortages Loom

The base model Mac mini with M4 chip, 256GB storage and 16GB RAM is currently unavailable for purchase from Apple’s online store, reflecting ongoing supply constraints affecting several Mac mini configurations.

According to MacRumors, the base Mac mini is listed as “Currently Unavailable” on Apple’s website, while M4 Mac mini models with upgraded storage and those equipped with the M4 Pro chip remain in stock. Configurations with 24GB RAM are still available, but models with 32GB RAM or higher are out of stock.

The shortage appears to be part of a broader trend impacting Apple’s desktop lineup, with multiple sources indicating that any M4 Mac mini featuring 256GB of storage is now unavailable regardless of RAM configuration. Third-party retailers such as Amazon are similarly limited, offering primarily M4 Pro Mac mini models.

Industry-wide shortages of memory and storage components are cited as a primary factor, with Apple reportedly prioritizing supply for its MacBook line over lower-volume desktop models like the Mac mini and Mac Studio.
