Bastoni Transfer Rumors: Moratti Weighs In on Radio Rai

Inter Milan Defender Alessandro Bastoni at Center of Transfer Speculation

– Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is the subject of mounting transfer interest from several top European clubs, according to recent reports. The 26-year-old center-back has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Tottenham Hotspur.

The speculation surrounding Bastoni’s future comes as Inter Milan navigate a crucial period in their Scudetto pursuit. Former Inter president Massimo Moratti recently commented on a controversial incident involving Bastoni during a match against Juventus, describing the defender’s reaction as an “enthusiastic” simulation. Moratti stated on Radio anch’io lo sport, “Bastoni committed an ‘enthusiastic’ simulation, he made an incredible jump after the opponent extended his arm. This allowed Bastoni to take advantage of the situation. Let’s say the boy got excited about having this opportunity, which resulted in an injustice; Kalulu had not committed a serious foul.”

Moratti also weighed in on the possibility of disciplinary action from national team coach Gattuso, suggesting, “I think Gattuso can avoid punishing him. For Bastoni, the attack he is suffering from everyone, fair or unfair, is already a punishment.” He further noted the complexities introduced by VAR, stating, “VAR has complicated football a lot, despite creating almost certainty of judgment.”

Despite the controversy surrounding the simulation, Bastoni remains a highly sought-after player. Transferfeed.com currently values Bastoni at €80 million, with ten clubs reportedly linked. Arsenal are the most recent club to express interest, with reports surfacing 23 hours ago indicating a potential summer transfer bid. Barcelona are also reportedly prepared to offer €80 million for the player, according to Fichajes.

Liverpool have also been monitoring Bastoni, particularly after failing to secure Marc Guéhi. Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been credited with past interest. Tottenham Hotspur’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici, is also reportedly a strong admirer of the Inter defender.

Interestingly, Bastoni reportedly declined offers from Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiah this past summer. Manchester City, under Pep Guardiola, have also previously shown strong interest in acquiring the Italian international.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, reports indicate that Bastoni is currently in talks with Inter Milan regarding a contract extension. The defender’s current contract with the club runs until an unspecified date, but securing his long-term future remains a priority for Inter.

Inter Milan recently secured a 3-2 victory over Juventus, a result that significantly boosts their chances in the Scudetto race. The match was marked by the aforementioned incident involving Bastoni and the subsequent expulsion of Juventus’ Kalulu, leaving the Bianconeri to play with ten men for a majority of the second half.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu has received praise from Moratti, who compared him favorably to José Mourinho, stating, “Chivu is a very serious person, he resembles Mourinho more than one might think. He’s young, he understands players quickly, and he has a good group at his disposal. Inter is on the right track, let’s not say more.”
