Alex Foster, an 18-year-old defensive lineman for the Baylor Bears, died early Wednesday in Greenville, Miss. He was found in a car with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Washington County Coroner’s Office.
Police responded to a shooting report at 12:11 a.m. and discovered Foster in his car. He was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead roughly 30 minutes later. The Greenville Police Department is investigating, but no arrests have been made.
Foster, a three-star recruit from St. Joseph Catholic School, redshirted the 2024 season and participated in spring practice with the Baylor Bears football program.
“We are heartbroken by the unexpected loss of Alex Foster, a beloved member of our football family,” Baylor coach Dave Aranda and athletic director Mack Rhoades said in a joint statement. “Our deepest condolences are with Alex’s family and all who loved him… Alex’s memory will forever be part of our hearts and this program.”
Aranda also posted a separate message, saying, “Our hearts are broken, and our prayers are with his family, friends and all those who loved him so deeply.”
Greenville Mayor Errick D.
