Despite the brilliant defense of Kim Min-jae (Fenerbahce) and the opening goal of Son Heung-min (Tottenham), the Korean national football team, led by coach Paulo Bento, recorded a draw (one point) in Group A of the 2022 Qatar World Cup Asian final qualifying match.

According to the sports world on the 13th, the Korean soccer team seemed to have won the victory by scoring the first goal in the 3rd minute of the second half in the away match against Iran on the afternoon of the 12th (Korean time), but they showed defensive anxiety in the middle of the second half and conceded a goal.

However, he succeeded in escaping from the shadow of three consecutive away losses. Iran and Korea were the best teams in Asia and had a tight match from the beginning.

South Korea added Son Heung-min, Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton), and Hwang Ui-jo (Bordeaux), who had great performances (3 goals) for their team this season, and Iran’s main players Sardar Azmun (Zenit) and Alireza Jahanbahsi (Feyenoord) , boosted the momentum of Medi Taremi (Porto).

The two teams, who played the game while maintaining tight tension, were evaluated for playing rather conservatively as they played the game appropriately in defense and attack.

However, Hwang In-beom (Kazan), who served as a striker in the midfield, overcame the calculated pressure from Iran and was able to shoot properly.

In this situation, Iran’s strikers Azmoon and Taremi threatened Korea’s goal every time they had a chance, but it did not lead to a goal due to Kim Min-jae’s merit.

Even at speed, Minjae Kim outperformed the players of the opposing team and moved the ball forward through direct dribbling when the attack was somewhat stagnant.

In the 39th minute of the first half, Kim Min-jae led Son Heung-min’s mid-range shot through a bold forward dribble.

However, the national team, which had barely survived due to Kim Min-jae’s great performance, began to crumble after Son Heung-min scored the first goal in the second half, and was put on the defensive by Iran, who changed tactics after conceding a goal.

After sending Bahid Amiri, who was dispatched as a left full-back, to the left wing and increasing the proportion of flank attacks, he persistently harassed Hong-cheol (Ulsan) and Lee Yong (Jeonbuk), the national team’s full-backs.

Over the middle of the second half, it was noticeable that the national team players’ feet became dull and slow, but coach Bento only changed the tactics of calling Hong Chul to the bench in the 25th minute of the second half and putting in Kim Jin-soo (Jeonbuk).

As the midfield collapsed and the attack became dull, the national team was exposed to frequent dangers in front of the goal.

Also, after the goal was scored, the Iranian team’s strong mid-range shot hit the post.

After scoring the tie, the national team added Na Sang-ho (Seoul) and Lee Dong-kyung (Ulsan) in the 36th and 37th minutes of the second half, but failed to score additional goals.

As a result, the national team brought a score of ‘1’ with Heung-Min Son’s decisive shot, but did not win. The Iranian team focused on Son Heung-min on that day, but could not completely block Son Heung-min’s shot.
