Beware of Impersonators: Call Center Gang Pretends to be Lands Department Officials

Deputy Spokesperson Exposes Land Department Impersonation Scam

The Deputy Spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office, Kosolwat Intuchanyong, has issued a warning about a call center gang impersonating the Lands Department. He cautioned the public not to provide any personal information or believe any requests coming from these scammers.

In a recent Facebook post, Mr. Intuchanyong recounted his encounter with the gang, stating that they called him and accurately provided his house number, land title deed number, and land details. They even knew the location of his land and house. This level of detail made it seem plausible that they were indeed calling from the land office.

The scammers asked him to verify his identity by entering a LINE chat or scanning his face through an app. They claimed it was necessary to process a land tax exemption that he had allegedly applied for but had not received any response.

Mr. Intuchanyong expressed his shock and concern, as he realized that he had unwittingly contemplated relinquishing his rights. He emphasized the inconvenience of traveling to the land office, particularly in Bangkok’s heavy traffic. The call center gang exploited this inconvenience by offering a seemingly easier alternative – using LINE and face scanning to verify identity.

Skeptical of their claims, Mr. Intuchanyong questioned the gang about alternative ways to reach the land office. However, their responses were inconsistent and raised further suspicion. When he requested a phone number to call them back, they provided a mobile number that was always busy when dialed.

It is essential to note that the Land Office does not handle land tax collection. This responsibility lies with the county or local office. Mr. Intuchanyong urged the public to remain vigilant and not fall victim to this scam.

In a related incident, a news anchor, Ms. Praweenmai Bai Kloi, reported to the Phasi Charoen Police Station after falling victim to the same call center gang. The scammers posed as Lands Department officers and tricked her into downloading the SmartLands app, resulting in a loss of over 1 million baht from her bank accounts.

Authorities continue to investigate these fraudulent activities. The aim is to protect the rights of individuals and provide legal aid to those affected by such scams. The public is urged to exercise caution and not to engage with suspicious phone calls or requests for personal information.

Deputy Spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office It was revealed that the center’s gang was impersonating the Lands Department. request to verify identity before being told the location of the land office is wrong Repeat, don’t enter the line, don’t scan your face, don’t believe The Land Office has no duty to collect land taxes.

Today (Aug. 10), Kosolwat Intuchanyong Mr. Deputy Director General of the Office for the Protection of Rights and Legal Assistance to the People (NHA) and Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Attorney General Post a message via private Facebook, stating, “Warning, warning again, further warning..!

Yesterday, the call center gang called me. know the house number know the land title deed number Tell me how much square wah is right, ask me to enter LINE, enter the app to scan my face to verify identity, except land tax …!

almost convinced Because he called and told us his name. Tell the title deed number, tell the area, tell the location of the land tell the house number All correct..! There is detailed information about my land and my house. Normal people would understand that yes .. contact from the land office as mentioned. because he knows my personal information and land details Ask him/her to verify his identity because he has sent documents for land tax exemption but received no response. It was a shock to me as if I had forgotten to uphold my rights..!! in land tax exemption Then recommend going to the land office. If it is inconvenient, you can enter LINE to tell you how to enter LINE to scan your face to verify your identity when getting a land tax exemption from the Department of Lands.

People who have to have a career who have to get in and out of work on time for everyone. Absolutely no one is convenient to travel to the land office. But receiving a phone call would be a shock that we have received the documents and then forgotten to maintain the right to land tax exemption. When Bangkok has a lot of traffic Traveling takes a lot of time. hope for convenience If going to the land office, it would take at least half a day or more than half a day. The call center gang also offers a way to enter LINE, enter the app to scan your face and verify your identity. If you believe it to be true, it will come in. LINE will enter the app for sure…!!

We talked at first because I was skeptical because of my personal knowledge. So he asked back if he didn’t go in LINE, where did he go to the land office? Please tell me the location of my land office is incorrect. So I asked him to repeat back to confirm back. This time I was wrong again. Go to the Bangkapi Land Office. So I asked for a phone number to call him back. So he told me to call the cell phone that called me back to this number, right?

Note the mobile phone number of the call center gang that called. It’s a normal mobile number, no +66 in front of you, but if we hang up and call back, it’s always a busy signal. means this number can’t be called back If you can’t call back, be aware and think you’re being scammed… because I don’t want to call back

I say again, the Land Office has no duty to collect land taxes Don’t be fooled. Land taxes must be collected by the county or local office.

The call center gang.. does not transfer, does not enter the app, aware, does not get cheated, warns and warns again, continues to warn each other from anxiety by the prosecutor to protect rights and provide legal aid to the people.

Additional news reports indicate that Previously, on August 9, Ms Praweenmai Bai Kloi or Tan, a news anchor at a television station.
