U.S. President Joe Biden announced his intention to participate in a debate with former President Donald Trump, who is scheduled to face a rematch in the November presidential election.

According to the New York Times (NYT) and CNN on the 26th (local time), during an interview on the ‘Howard Stern Radio Show’, when host Stern asked whether he would debate Trump, President Biden responded, “Yes, I don’t know where or when, but I’m willing to do it.” “I will discuss it with him,” he replied.

This is the first time that President Biden has explicitly stated his intention to debate with former President Trump. So far, President Biden has only vaguely responded to the presidential candidate debate with former President Trump by saying, ‘It depends on Trump’s attitude.’

The NYT explained that some of President Biden’s key advisers and close associates have been negative about the debate, raising concerns that the organization hosting the presidential debate will not be able to stop former President Trump even if he does not follow the debate rules.

In this situation, on the 14th, about 10 media outlets, including major U.S. broadcasters and the Associated Press, sent an open letter urging a debate between the two presidential candidates. Former President Trump, who is attending the trial on suspicion of silence regarding sexual misconduct, responded by posting on his social media a few hours after the broadcast, saying, “I will respond at any time.”

Former President Trump said, “Foolish Biden has announced his intention to debate. In reality, everyone knows he has no intention of doing so. But if he does debate, I will say, ‘Any time, any place, any place.’ “I will tell you,” he wrote.

Former President Trump has been pressuring President Biden to participate in the debate, saying “any time, any place, anywhere” on social networking services (SNS).
