BitGo Holdings Inc. is acquiring NYDIG’s institutional trading business, absorbing its derivatives, structured products, and financing capabilities into its digital asset platform. The deal, reported August 27, 2026, transfers approximately 30 NYDIG employees and roughly 250 institutional client relationships to BitGo. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Integrating Capital Markets with Custody
The acquisition bridges NYDIG’s capital markets services with BitGo’s existing infrastructure for settlement, digital wallets, and custody. NYDIG’s trading unit primarily serves family offices, corporate treasuries, hedge funds, and asset managers with a focus on derivatives and financing.
By folding these operations into its ecosystem, BitGo can now provide a unified platform. Institutional clients can manage the entire lifecycle of their digital assets within a single regulated framework.
Closing the Loop on Institutional Trading
BitGo CEO and co-founder Mike Belshe noted that institutions are increasingly seeking partners capable of supporting every stage of the asset lifecycle—from custody and trading to financing and settlement. The move is designed to keep trading activity and client assets within the BitGo platform, preventing them from leaking to external venues.
Scaling After the $213 Million IPO
This expansion follows BitGo’s public listing earlier this year, an initial public offering that raised about $213 million. Now trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BTGO, the company has spent 2026 moving beyond standalone custody.
In May, the company introduced a modular infrastructure platform for banks. This offering, delivered through its subsidiary BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, covers regulated custody, stablecoin services, settlement, and staking.
NYDIG’s Shift to Power and Computing
The divestiture allows NYDIG to pivot away from capital markets. The firm is now concentrating its resources on physical infrastructure, specifically high-performance computing data centers, bitcoin mining, and vertically integrated power generation.

NYDIG’s current development pipeline for these computing and power assets exceeds 3 gigawatts. The company anticipates that more than 1 gigawatt of that capacity will become deliverable across 2027 and 2028.
