Blizzard Cancels BlizzCon 2024, Plans to Showcase Games at Other Events

Blizzard has announced that it will not hold the big BlizzCon event in 2024, confirming that there will still be news of new games and eSports competitions destined for other events instead.

In the past, BlizzCon events were held in real-world locations and broadcast to viewers around the world, bringing fans together to announce updates to old games or reveal new games. Overall, it has a history of almost 20 years and has had some interruptions, such as during the COVID pandemic.

After holding a major event in 2023, the camp announced that it will not hold such an event in 2024. The format was instead changed to take part in other shows such as Gamescom and confirmed that it would be rearranged in the future.

Big Blizzard games releasing this year include World of Warcraft: The War Within and the Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred expansion, with details to be revealed in the coming months. The Overwatch Champions Series shooting competitions will both take place at Dreamhack Dallas and Dreamhack Stockholm.

Additionally, the Warcraft series will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a series of separate real-world events around the world. Including celebrations within various games throughout 2024.

Blizzard has now been acquired by Microsoft along with Activision. A representative from the label recently gave an interview saying that they are still working on their own. Plus, you get the benefit of exchanging and talking with other Microsoft game studios too.
