Bloodshed in the Heart of Beijing: Multiple Stabbing Victims Left in Critical Condition
According to Beijing police, around 4:30 pm on the 28th Japan time, a passerby was stabbed by an assailant on a street in northwest Beijing.
Five people were reportedly injured, three of whom were minors.
Those affected were taken to the hospital, and all injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.
According to the Japanese Embassy in Beijing, none of the victims were Japanese.
Police detained a 50-year-old man at the scene and are investigating the situation in detail.
The site is near the intersection in front of the elementary school in an area lined with shops and houses, and is about 100 meters away from the school gate.
The Japanese Embassy in Beijing urged Japanese citizens staying in the area to be aware of their surroundings when going out and to take safety measures such as traveling in groups.
In China, incidents of school-going children being harmed continue to occur across the country. Last month, in the southern city of Shenzhen, a Japanese school boy was stabbed to death by an assailant on his way to school.
