Business hours for the December 17 plebiscite

On Sunday, December 17, the exit plebiscite will be held, where citizens must vote if they are For or Against of the proposed text of the Political Constitution prepared by the Constitutional Council.

Regarding business opening hours that day, the Executive recalled that the law emphasizes that December 17 is considered a mandatory and inalienable holiday. for workers who perform their duties in malls, strip centers or other shopping centers.

Along these lines, the Labor Directorate will supervise compliance with the mandatory and non-waivable holiday in these cases.

If not complied with, the sanctions will be between 3 and 60 Monthly Tax Units per violation. (between $191,880 and $3,837,600, depending on whether the company is micro, small, medium or large).

For his part, heWorkers who must work on Sunday, December 17, have the right to leave of at least two hours to vote in the plebiscite. This will be supervised by the Labor Directorate (DT).

Also The DT will supervise the granting of work permits to workers designated as polling station members, members of scrutineering colleges or delegates of the Electoral Board.

The applicable fines will be between 3 to 60 UTM ($191,880 to $3,837,600) and the corresponding permits must be granted without discounts on remuneration.
